1972 Munich Summer Olympics Torch
The most historically relevant Summer Games since Germany last hosted them in 1936, the Munich Games will forever be remembered for the assault upon the Israeli athletes’ compound by the terrorist group Black September, a tragic hostage situation that concluded with the deaths of eleven Israeli team members, a German police officer and five captors.
Characterized by the sleek, understated aesthetics for which German engineering is prized, this torch serves as a silent reminder of a struggle which remains one of the most significant in the world today. Certainly one of the most essential of all Olympic torches for the serious collector. Minor handling and storage wear, but aesthetics remain strong.
