A Jewish Woman’s Death Certificate
DATE
Year: 1930
Decade: 1930s
Century: 20th (1901-2000)
Notes: September 30, 1930.
A death certificate for 50 year old Fani de Ambinder, a Jewish woman from Argentina, dated September 28, 1930.
Scholar Avi Gold commented, “It may be of interest that the columns on either side of the photo show the anniversary of her date of death on the Jewish calendar, the 6th of the month of Tishre, in terms of the Gregorian calendar. This would have made it easier for family members who wished to light a memorial candle and/or recite the Kaddish prayer on the anniversary of her death yearly – to know which day that was in terms of the Gregorian calendar, which is obviously the everyday calendar used in Argentina.”
