Advertising Section for Radio Station KRIZ

DATE
Year: 1969
Decade: 1960s
Century: 20th (1901-2000)
Notes: July 30, 1969

A weekly advertising section from the Phoenix, Arizona radio station KRIZ.

The back page is a full sized advertisement for a new Beatles single. The A-side of the record is “The Ballad of John and Yoko” and the B-side is “Old Brown Shoe”.

There are many interesting ads and reviews of the arts. There is an article about Brian Jones leaving the Rolling Stones. They give a list of the top 50 songs in Phoenix for the week of June 21 through 28, 1969. They also list the top 20 albums and the top 60 singles on the national scene. Many of the songs and albums are still very well known today.

In 1950, AM 1230 returned to the air under a new license as KRIZ, which became an extremely successful AM top 40 station beginning in the late 1950s. KRIZ terminated broacasting in 1978, replaced by religious broadcaster KFLR.
