Radio producer Murray Woroner had the idea to select sixteen all-time ring champions and match them against each other with the winner determined by a super computer. The outcomes were then staged as radio plays and broadcast worldwide.

Marciano defeated Dempsey in the final and was awarded a championship belt. Muhammad Ali was angered at his loss to Jim Jefferies and sued Woroner for $1 million for defamation of character. To settle amicably, Warner conceived another fantasy match, this time between Marciano and Ali, called The Super Fight for which both fighters were paid for and which was shown in theaters using actual fight footage which the fighters filmed together. Marciano won this one too.
