Armenian Translation of Jean-François Marmontel

DATE
Year: 1809
Decade: 1800s
Century: 19th (1801-1900)

An Armenian translation of a work by Jean-François Marmontel made by Vardapet Petros Purnazean Karnets’i from a Portuguese version of the French original.

According to scholar Sebouh Aslanian, “These were once in the library of the Antonine Catholic Armenian order’s library in Ortakoy or Michakiugh in Istanbul. I know the shape of that red seal since I’ve worked on the history of that order quite extensively.”
