Original Japanese accordion style woodblock print book of an Atlas and Almanac from the year Commodore Perry arrived in Japan (1853). The volume includes are charts and tables, a map of Japan, a map of China with Taiwan and Korea, astronomical charts, fortune telling charts, etc.
Scholar Peter Kornicki commented that, “Interesting that at the beginning the chronology is divided into Japan and China, using Kando (Han lands) not Chūgoku, also that Tsushima is labelled Nihon Tsushima to forestall any Korean claims.”
