Japanese Boxer Rebellion photograph archive dating from 1900-1903, including an image of soldiers from the Eight Nation Alliance, which included the United States, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, and Austria-Hungary. There are six other portraits of Japanese soldiers who participated in the Boxer Rebellion.
According to Sugihiko Uchida, the names and ages of those posing here are:
Mr.Tsuruki (鶴来) at center, Mr. Utahara Ichijirou (歌原市治郎) and Mr. Ishii Naojirou (石井直治郎). The note to the left tells that they are war buddies. Another photo shows a Mr. Utahara, a corporal, and Mr. Yamanaka Kousaku (山中耕作), a private first class. On the back of a photo is a dedication to Sergeant Major Kanazawa Shizuo (金澤静雄) is written to the right. The dedicator is Mr. Utahara.
