A Burmese Buddhist silver sutra scroll manuscript.
According to Helga Rebhan, “Such rolledup silver leaves were usually kept in the reliquiary of a pagoda in order to consecrate it. The valuable material gives evidence of a wealthy donor who could afford the costs of the metal and the scribe. The language of it is very likely Pali, the sacred language of Theravada Buddhism.”
An eclectic assemblage of objects coving a wide range of human history.
