DATE
Decade: 1930s
Century: 20th (1901-2000)

Children’s record from the 1930s. Song title is “Daikoku San”.

The Hare of Inaba is the story of a kind god who saved a hare.

Scholar Sugihiko Uchida noted, “Daikokusama (DAIKOKUTEN 大黒天) is originally Indian deity Mahakala, later becoming one of the guardian deities of Buddhism, a deity of fertility.”

Scholar Ryan Cook noted, “I guess that Daikokusama here relates to the Hare of Inaba story.”
