PRONUNCIATION: El Ejemplo De Sonora
DATE
Year: 1932
Decade: 1930s
Century: 20th (1901-2000)

A racist book towards the Chinese community in Sonora, “The Case Of Sonora” refers to the persecution of Chinese immigrants that took place primarily in the northern Mexican states during the 1920´s and that was partially supported by the Mexican government.

Chinese immigrants, many who were already Mexican citizens, were accused of belonging to criminal organizations and of exploiting the Mexican workers. Most of the Chinese community living in Mexico emigrated to the US or other countries. The present book reproduces many discriminatory cartoons of the time.
