Confederate Covers with Racist Rhymes

DATE
Decade: 1860s
Century: 19th (1801-1900)
Notes: 1861-1865

Two confederate covers with vile racist rhymes. While covers with pro- and anti-Union messages were common during the war, these are particularly unpleasant. Text as follows: “Connecticut, thou land of Pumpkin pies, of wooden nutmegs, and of abolition lies * Pennsylvania, Quaker State–so fond of Niggers, Twas in vain you pulled your trigger.”
