Name: Robert Fishel

Artist Information: Born in Cleveland, Robert O. Fishel worked in advertising before he joined the Cleveland Indians staff in 1946. He was with the St. Louis Indians from 1951 until 1954 when they were sold to Baltimore. He joined the Yankees that year as a public relations director and was eventually a vice-president of the club. American League President Lee MacPhail hired him as his special assistant and he rose to executive vice president. Major League Baseball honored him in 1981 by establishing the annual Robert O. Fishel Award for Public Relations Excellence. Publishing the Yearbooks was one of the many ways Fishel helped to expand the Yankees brand into the market-place.
