Original Japanese manuscript design and account record book of a sake cup maker. Volume has many sketches of sake cup designs together with order and price records, all in the hand of the maker.
According to scholar Peter Kornicki, “Another fascinating item! It seems to date from 1912 and to be an order book used by a porcelain manufacturer in Fukushima in northern Japan. There are rough designs, mentions of the colours and later on indications of the number of items to be made and small red seals indicating that the order had been completed.”
This collection houses art and artifacts from China, Ethiopia, India and Japan.
