TYPE: Book

COMPONENTS: Folio, old calf, newly rebound with old covers laid down. Bound with book of prayer, Genealogies (lacking the map) and, at the rear, The Whole Booke of Psalmes.

CONDITION: Bible: title somewhat soiled, with minor tears around the edges with slight loss; minor, largely marginal, worming at front, often affecting a few letters of text to the beginning of Leviticus; the Adam & Eve plate is slightly torn with loss at edges (& with the outer margin strengthened); throughout the Bible, but particularly in the Pentateuch, there are some notes and many textual emendations (e.g., crossing out 'God' in Genesis 1 and substituting 'The All Mighty', or, later, substituting 'Jehovah' consistently for 'Lord') in a 19th century hand, in ink; the middle of the outer margin is defective from the end of Proverbs to the beginning of Jeremiah, at its worst to the detriment of the sidenotes; Cccc4 is crudely repaired at bottom outer corner, though without loss; there are a few other minor tears without loss. The noted defects notwithstanding, not at all a bad copy, with good margins throughout and with the text crisp; Book of Psalms: lacking a few of the supplementary leaves at rear
