Scarce late copy of the “C.[entral] V.[erein] Zeitung”, “The Newspaper of Jewry”, a Berlin weekly which in 1925 had a circulation of 75,000 but by 1935 had been reduced to 40,000.
This copy is from April 7, 1938 and offers reports on the “Reorganization of the Jewish community of the Reich Government”; a lengthy article on Jewish emigration from Germany to Argentina, Brasil, Canada, the U.S., etc., graphically showing the great increase since 1933, and a story on Heinrich Stahl, president of the Jewish community of Berlin, deported to Theresienstadt in 1942 where he would die. Soiled a bit and worn at a fold, still quite good.
The paper would cease publication on Nov. 3, 1938 – six days before Kristallnacht.
