Geronimo Autograph

Century: 19th (1801-1900)

An extremely rare and quite bold example of Geronimo’s autograph affixed to magazine print of the warrior. Geronimo (1829-1909) Apache Indian Chief who directed attacks against White settlers encroaching on tribal and traditionally sacred lands. After numerous campaigns and successfully eluding military efforts for his capture, the great Chief was finally taken prisoner by George Crook. Geronimo briefly escaped, but was recaptured by Nelson Miles. He Officially Surrendered to General Miles on September 4, 1886 at Skeleton Canyon, Arizona. The remainder of his life was spent under “supervision” with his movements strictly controlled by the military.
