A warrant for the arrest of Jim Lewis and John Barnes for the crime of murder. The warrant was issued in Precinct No. 3, Graham County, Arizona Territory and is signed by James Sias, Justice of the Peace. The bottom of the document is signed for sheriff George Stevens by the deputy sheriff, certifying that the warrant was received on July 22, 1883 and that Barnes will be brought to count on July 25, 1883. It is also signed by Sias, stating that Lewis was arrested on July 24, 1883.James Lewis and John Barnes are not identified. The John Barnes named in the warrant is not the same “Johnny” Barnes who was shot and later died of his wounds in April 1882, as the result of participating in an attempted ambush of the Earp brothers.
