Green Bay Packers Team Members Appreciation Plaque Presented to Ray Nitschke
The late Ray Nitschke was the inspirational leader for more than a decade of one of the greatest defenses ever assembled, the 1960’s Green Bay Packers. As a middle linebacker and defensive signal caller, he seemed to be in on every play – the run, the blitz, the intermediate passing game, etc.
Presented here is an attractive plaque that was given to Nitschke by his teammates after he played his last ever NFL game, in the preseason of 1973. It features an engraved plate at the center, which reads: “To Ray Nitschke In Appreciation for Enthusiasm, Dedication and Overall Leadership 9-2-73 Best Wishes Your Teammates”. The remainder of the engraving notes all of Nitschke’s teammates from his final season.
