Handwritten Tibetan Manuscript – Astrological Thesis
A well preserved, handwritten, antique paper Tibetan manuscript from Mongolia. It appears to be an astrological thesis with great attention to detailed calculations.
The error-free scripting and neat handwriting strokes suggest that it was created by a very experienced master.
Scholar Peter Daniel Szanto says that, “While the provenance is often Mongolia, the language here is Tibetan. These were widely used in Mongol lands.”
According to scholar Jf Marc Des Jardins, “ Well, besides local shamanism, Mongolia adopted the Tibetan form of Buddhism, this started with Kubilai Khan and then later, other Mongol warlords such as Gushri Khan, controlled Tibet. The Mongols were the patron and the Tibetan their priests. Unless the manuscript is a production of a Mongol lama, most are actually of Tibetan composition and many are Tibetan translations of Indic sources (Buddhist and others).”
