Japanese Hand-Written Anti-Christian Manuscript Letters

DATE
Century: 19th (1801-1900)

Japanese hand-written anti-Christian manuscript letters.

According to scholar Sugihiko Uchida, one of these documents is described as, “Listed up are the names of a physician, his wife, son, disciple and an old woman. All of them are believers of Tendai sect (天台宗)of Buddhism.”

Another document is described by Sugihiko Uchida as, “Listed here are the names of a physician, three sons of him, and his disciple with the wife and an old woman (same three people on another page?). All of them are believers of Tendai sect.”
