Jewish Migration Documents

DATE
Century: 20th (1901-2000)

A group of documents related to Jewish a family’s migration from Riga, Latvia to Germany to Chile dating from the 1910s to the 1960s.

The documents are related to Max Reinberg and his family. Max Reinberg was born in 1899 in Riga, where he became an engineer who eventually moved to Germany. Just before World War II, he escaped to Chile and made aliyah to Israel in the 1950s. The Hebrew word “aliyah” literally means ascent or rise, but for generations it has been used to mean immigration to Israel.
