Matrimony Present from Newlyweds

DATE
Year: 1825
Decade: 1820s
Century: 19th (1801-1900)
Notes: December, 1825.

Matrimony present given by the newlyweds – printed on silk with decorative silver-thread borders. This engraving is most likely unique. It seems it was made for a wedding as it has a card that announces the wedding between Daniel Barquera and Maria Carrasco dated December 1825. The engraving itself has a poem signed by the groom, and it seems that it was meant for his mother (it starts with “Amorosa mama…”).

The family was probably a very rich one, as these things weren’t at all common back then. A whole plate had to be made just to make this single engraving.
