Mexican Incunabula Promissory Note

Year: 1562
Decade: 1560s
Century: 16th (1501-1600)

Mexican Incunabula Promissory Note. “Sepan Quantos esta carta Vieren… que me obligo a pagar…” [Pedro de Ocharte].

According to the Mexican bibliographer Joaquín de Icazbalceta, these formularies came out of the press of Pedro Ocharte, third independent printer of the City of Mexico. One of the most early and primitive prints established in America. The Mexican Incunabula promissory note is, somewhat, more rare than the also printed formularies for power of attorney.
