A Persian or Armenian copper plate, very heavy with a design of many fishes, which is somewhat unusual. The inscription reads, “Gifted by the son of Hagop in 1602.”
Emma Chookaszian, the Armenian script says, “‘Աղայբաբէ որդի Շահում Թվին ՌՀԳ’ translates to ‘Shahum, son of Aghababa, in the year of 1624’.”
Aghababa was one of those Muslim names that became popular among Armenians from Vaspurakan and New Julfa. The famous surname Aghababyan comes from it.
