Portuguese Printed Royal Decrees
Two pages of printed Royal decrees described only as printed law. The first is dated 1517 and the second is dated the 12th of August of 1695.
According to scholar Daniel Strum, “Default debts of drinks on tally cannot be enforced with prison against poor people. Dom Manuel I prohibited arresting vagrants who drink spirits and did not pay.”
