Japanese postcard set commemorating a cable for direct communication between the White House and the Imperial Palace. One postcard has jugate photos of President Teddy Roosevelt and the Emperor Meiji, and the other has photos of the Imperial Palace and White House. A direct cable between Washington and Tokyo was established in the wake of the Russo-Japanese War for better communication in the event of a war or conflict.
