Proclamation to the People of Ojinaga

DATE
Year: 1913
Decade: 1910s
Century: 20th (1901-2000)
Notes: 6 April 1913

Proclamation to the people of Ojinaga, newly captured by Villa’s revolutionaries.

During this phase of the Mexican Revolution, General Victoriano Huerta had recently led a coup overthrowing moderate Francisco Madero and was establishing a military dictatorship. The previously divided ranks of revolutionaries were quickly uniting in opposition.

Toribio Ortega Ramírez (16 April 1870–1914) was a leading general in the Mexican Revolution. He was born on 16 April 1870, in Coyame, Iturbide district, in the State of Chihuahua, and was one of the first generals to revolt against Porfirio Díaz on November 14, 1910.
