DIMENSIONS: 19.1/8 x 16.1/4 x 1.1/2 inches or 48.58 x 41.28 x 3.81 cm.
COMPONENTS: Of rectangular form, underglaze decorated with black, depicting a haloed Christ holding an open book inscribed with verse 12, Chapter 8 from the Gospel of John in Coptic and Arabic , with a halo behind, with border of scrolling leafy vine.
CONDITION: Glaze cracked across surface, areas where glaze is missing particularly in a diagonal line leading from bottom left corner across to hand on book.
NOTES: Acquired at Christie’s Islamic and Indian art sale held in London in April of 2009.

This item has been displayed at the Phoenix Art Museum and at the Dallas Museum of Art.
