Qur’an Manuscript
DATE
Century: 18th (1701-1800)
Scholar Roxana King believes that this Qur’an dates to from the second half of the eighteenth century (later 1700s). The style of illumination and calligraphy look like they have been executed in a provincial Ottoman style, however the binding looks more Indian/central Asian than Ottoman. She thinks that it could well be a Caucus manuscript, but it is difficult to say precisely without seeing it in person.
