A manuscript report on the Russian mission to Nagasaki. Nikolai Rezanov was sent as ambassador representing Russia in order to gain trade concessions from the Shogun. He stayed at Nagasaki harbor for 6 months, but failed to get a treaty. It would take 50 more years, until Perry arrived in his black ships, for Japan to sign treaties with foreign nations. This report includes a list of presents sent by the Tsar of Russia, which included a tiger skin and a clock.
