Japanese print propaganda book published during the Satsuma Rebellion titled Volume I. The Satsuma Rebellion, as depicted in the Tom Cruise movie The Last Samurai, was a revolt of Samurai against the newly established Meiji government. The rebellion lasted from January to September of 1877, and this propaganda volume of woodblock prints was published during the actual events, making it real-time news. The volume has a full color cover of a Samurai and government soldier fighting with swords.
