September 11, 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks Game Used Base
After the attacks on New York, Pennsylvania and Washington on September 11, 2001, Major League Baseball (MLB) suspended play for one week. Play resumed as the nation united behind the phrase, “We shall not forget.”
This phrase appears on the top of this base in a logo that includes the date of the attacks, a ribbon, and the MLB logo with stars and stripes. These bases were used at every MLB stadium. This base in particular was used at the Bank One Ballpark (BOB, now Chase Field) home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
