This is a copy of the Shinritsu Kōryō the new criminal code issued in the early Meiji period, a book of penal law from 1870.

The translation is as follows: “The New Code of Criminal Procedure, issued in December 1870 to replace the previous provisional criminal code, was a penal code consisting of 192 articles in six volumes with eight illustrations and fourteen rules, based on the Ming and Qing Codes, and later renamed the New Code of Criminal Procedure in December of the old calendar.”
