Original Japanese woodblock print propaganda toy set of the Japanese naval victory at the Battle of the Yellow Sea and the sinking of a Chinese warship from the Sino-Japanese War, printed April 17, 1895 during the war itself. There is a scene at the top of the first print which could be used as an example of how to arrange the figures for display. The figures were intended to be cut out and attached to pieces of cardboard for support. There are figures of ships, cliffs, a lighthouse, Chinese and Japanese sailors, etc. One of the Japanese officers has an arm detached and meant to be put on his figure by a string so that his arm could move the sword up and down.
