Softbound Chinese publication, a collection of 78 political cartoons lampooning and vilifying the Gang of Four, the clique headed by Mao Zedong’s wife, Jiang Qing, which dominated Chinese politics in the late stages of the Cultural Revolution. Following Mao’s death in 1976, they were blamed for the worst excesses of that period, and Jiang was sentenced to death.
