Soviet Campaign Medals Replacement Award Certificates
Good lot of fifteen partly-printed D.S.’s, each a replacement award certificate for a campaign medal issued by the Red Army during World War II.
The decorations represented here include medals for the defense of Stalingrad, Leningrad, the Caucuses, the Polar Region, Kiev, and Moscow; medals for the capture of Vienna, Belgrade, Budapest, Warsaw, Prague, Konigsberg and Berlin; and the medals for victory over Germany and Japan.
These certificates were provided by a local “voenkomat” (“military commissariat”) to veterans who had lost their original awards. Each document lists the recipient’s name and the inventory number of the award, and is signed at the conclusion by a military official.
The certificates presented here represent every campaign medal issued by the Red Army for battles in World War II, but for the Defense of Sevastopol and the Defense of Odessa medals, which are offered separately elsewhere in this sale.
