A receipt card (carta de recibo) from La Paz, Bolivia in 1610. Juan Bautista Gutierrez, owner of a mule team that is charged with safely transporting the king’s silver from La Paz to the port of Arica, has received 2310 pesos of silver from Juan de la Barrera, secretary of the Inquisition. Gutierrez is to transport the silver to
the port and deliver it to the portmaster for shipment to Spain.
