The Chaplain’s Prayer for the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Missions

DATE
Decade: 1940s
Century: 20th (1901-2000)

Excellent pair of one-page prayers for each of the August 1945 atomic bomb missions on Japan, written out and signed by the chaplain who administered them, Rev. Capt. William B. Downey, 509th Composite Group.

Interesting to note that the Hiroshima prayer reads in part: “…Guard and protect them… May they as well as we know thy strength and power, and armed with thy might may they bring this war to a rapid end…”.
