Four documents relating to Tombstone. 1) A legal document concerning a court case between James Reilly and W. C. Crowley (?). The printed document, on letterhead of the District Court, First Judicial District of the Territory in and for the County of Cochise, and completed in ink by a county clerk, outlines costs owed by both the plaintiff and the defendant. James Reilly was considered one of Tombstone’s leading attorneys, with mining cases being his specialty. Born in Ireland in 1830, Reilly came to the United States as a young man and became a U.S. citizen in 1849. He moved to Tombstone in 1880. 2) An invoice, dated November 8, 1882 to pay “Adolpho Garcia” $9.00 for “three day work on City Hall.” Written in ink. Written in pencil at the bottom of the form is a statement by C. V. Thomas, certifying that the above bill is correct. The invoice is on letterhead of the City Clerk’s Office, Tombstone. 3) A letter sent from H. B. Addington, Fairbank Station, Arizona Territory, to A. E. Jacobs, Tombstone, March 11, 1887, enclosing four checks. The letter is on the railroad company letterhead and is stamped in red by the Cochise County Bank, Tombstone. A.J. Jacobs served as cashier at bank. H. B. Addington, in addition to serving as postmaster of Fairbank, was an agent for the New Mexico and Arizona Railroad Company; 4) A letter sent by H. J. Godfray (?), dated August 28, 1886, claiming “that I have this day Sold to Nick Burnsich [?] one Buckskin Mare Branded HL on right side on hip and Shoulders. Received for said mare $55.00.”
