Two Large Bedouin Silver Necklaces

DATE
Notes: Late 18th to early 20th century

Two Large Bedouin Silver Necklaces.

One with eight Maria Theresa thaler silver coins (Maria Theresa was the Empress of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire from 1740-1780).

The other, quite a large wedding necklace with three large amulet pendants with braided silver fringe.

The Bedouin are pastorally nomadic Arab tribes who have historically inhabited the desert regions in the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, the Levant, and Mesopotamia. They spread across the rest of the Arab world in West Asia and North Africa after the spread of Islam. Their culture promotes courage, hospitality, loyalty to family and pride of ancestry.
