An evocative item, a 5″ crystal “apple” given as a wedding present to Donald Trump and his second wife, Marla Maples.
The apple bears and laser-etched skyline of New York on one side which includes the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center. On the opposite the piece is engraved: “Dear Marla and Donald Love and congratulations on your special day. 12-20-93 Speaker Peter and Tena Vallone”.
Peter Vallone, Sr. was the second most powerful official in New York City’s government after the mayor, when he became the city’s first Speaker of the City Council in 1986. He held that position until Gifford Miller took over in 2002.
