The University of Pittsburgh (virtual), 09/1/2022-09/30/2022
The Melikian Collection is pleased to be participating in the The University of Pittsburgh's virtual exhibition: "Agape and Hope Resurrected in Hripsime's Agony, Athena's Mourning, and Rachel's Heartbreak" coming in September 2022.
The Greek, Armenian, and Jewish Communities of Western Pennsylvania are coming together in the month of September 2022 in broad educational outreach to all of Western Pennsylvania in art, music, literature, and history to commemorate those who perished brutally during the Greek and Armenian Genocides of World War I and the Holocaust of WWII.
The month of September 2022 will be dedicated to the music, literature, artwork, and stories that were inspired by these sad moments in humankind’s history, in the post-World War II Armenian, Greek, and Jewish cultures. Planned activities include a series of artworks of the period, a soiree of literature and poetry, a concert that will bring together Armenian, Greek, and Jewish musicians, and a digital oral history archive containing interviews with survivors and their descendants. Programming is primarily virtual, either through YouTube broadcasts or Zoom webinars, so attendees can participate from the comfort of their homes.
